Grade 3 Teacher
Trix du Toit holds a Degree in Counseling Psychology as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. Trix has over 8 years’ experience in teaching foundation phase. Trix has been a teacher at Valbonne College since its inception year in 2017.
“It is with an abundance of excitement and unwavering dedication and passion that I find myself in the teaching profession. It is a great privilege to be a part of this amazing school and to be a teacher to the wonderful children at Valbonne College. I strongly believe in the holistic approach to teaching, paying attention to children’s physical, personal, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing as well as the cognitive aspects of learning. To me each child is an individual in their own right, unique and special in their own way. No two children are the same and therefore it is extremely important to me to connect with each child on a personal level and to create an environment where the child feels valued, safe and confident. I look forward to growing with Valbonne College and to having a hand in the shaping and molding of our children’s minds and characters”.
Grade 2 Teacher
I have been a teacher since 2011. I started teaching at Silverfields Primary School in Krugersdorp as the PE teacher for grade 1 to 3 as well as teaching music for the Gr R-3 learners. In 2013 I was appointed as a Grade 2 teacher in the foundation phase.
As the years moved on I have been a teacher for Gr R and the 000 group in Potchefstoom and in Centurion, Pretoria.
In 2015 I was appointed as the music teacher at Bryanston Parallel Medium Pre-primary school. I taught music for the Gr 0000, Gr 000, Gr 00 and Gr R. I also taught art to the Gr R group as well as the recorder. I started the Gr R choir in 2015 where the Pre-primary choir received a gold certificate at the Eisteddfod competition. I created the songs and poems for the end of year graduation ceremony for the Gr R evening.
In 2016 I was employed as the Gr 1-7 Music teacher at Bryanston Parallel Medium school. I was the conductor for the Senior school choir. In our first year we took part in the Eisteddfod competition where the choir received a gold certificate.
In 2017 the Senior choir participated in the National Sing in Harmonie Choir competition where the choir came 6th out of more than 70 informal choirs. This was an outstanding achievement as the choir was only in it’s beginning stages.
In 2018 I started the Junior choir (Gr 1-3 ) for Bryanston Parallel Medium School. This was one of the highlights for me as a teacher. In a very short amount of time the choir was singing together beautifully and grasping the concept that hard work pays of at the end.
I am now employed as the grade 2 teacher at Valbonne College and will be in charge of the culture. I am looking forward to this new and exciting beginning where the sky is the limit.

Marietjie Otto studied at the University of Stellenbosch where she gained her BA degree. She further completed her PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) and Certificate in Child Care and Education. Marietjie taught in London for 8 years and after her return to South Africa she started teaching Grade 0 at Buttercup Preschool.
“I’ve always had a passion to teach. I strongly believe in the value and benefit of teaching children how to think for themselves. I see myself as a facilitator ensuring that each child reaches his/her full potential, helping them to work on their weaknesses and fulfilling their strengths. Grade 1 is one of the most memorable but crucial years of a school career, one of a new adventure in the world of learning. I am excited to be part of this journey and feel privileged to have joined the Valbonne family.”
